The head is complex. It is our nerve center containing our brain and special senses.
We find that people tend to suffer from headaches or congestion, muscular or jaw pain. Dyscomfort or pain in this region should be treated with care. We recommend you see an Osteopath because it requires medical training to reach a definative diagnosis before the correct best-practice treatment is applied.

The neck is a highly flexable region and a super-highway for all things brain. Its key role is to orientate our special senses.
Muscular pain is common here. But what is the underlying cause? There are joints, vertebrae, ligaments, fascia and over 20 muscles to choose from. As well as the main transport pathways of blood and the spinal cord. Dyscomfort or pain in this region needs to be identified accurately.
We recommend you see an Osteopath as it is their refined sense of touch combined with there medical training that will enable them to pin point the problem.

The shoulder is the most dynamic joint in your body. To enable such a high degree of movement its design has weaknesses.
The shallow socket needs a great deal of muscle and ligament bracing to keep the joint in place. Muscles attached as far away as your waist are directly involved in every movement. These muscles, ligaments and the rotator cuff's exist in balance with one another - when they are out of balance pain ensues.
For pain or dyscomfort in this region it often depends on how it has occured.
The human arm is a complex system of bones, muscles, nerves, and vessels. It is one evolutionary tool that has allowed humans the ability to throw, climb trees, and arm wrestle (amongst others!). The arm is the powerful and stabalising connection between the dynamic shoulder and the dexterity of the hand.
Arm pain can be deep and debilitating but it tends to come in two forms - specific or vauge.
As you use them constantly the hand and wrist are sensitive to change. Hence you really notice altered sensation in this region.
Functioning well the hand and wrist are able to perform the delicate or the tough alike. From playing the piano to typing, from breakdancing to gripping a tool the hand and wrist are essential to our expression. However when dyscomfort is present these life actions are restricted.
Hand/Wrist pain is a complex subject but can often be catagorised by what is known or unknown.
The upper back is a fulcrum for the movements of your head and arms. It reflects issues in your lungs and your heart and is said to be a holder of stress and tension.
Upper Back pain can be complex but we are experts and here to help.
Back pain can suck the joy out of your days for weeks, months or even years. Where most cases of low back pain do not require urgent care they can definitely be “serious” even though it’s not dangerous.
Lower Back Pain is common but the symptoms and severity vary greatly. Certain causes of lower back pain have a tendency to occur more often in younger individuals versus older adults:
For all non-specific lower back pain an Osteopath is recommended as part of a multi-modal package that should include exercise by NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence). NICE develops national guidance and advice, standards and information on high quality health and social care. Additionally Back to Balance recommend that you see an Osteopath to be medically screened and diagnosed before the correct best-practice treatment is applied. For booking and cost.
The hip controls power from the biggest and the longest muscles in your body. The balance of all these forces is key to all sporting movements, graceful dancing but also sitting. The muscles here have defined roles and we can identify which are causing you trouble.
We understand that a painful hip can stop you hopping. With our treatments you can do the hop, skip and jump once more.
Much has been written about the IT Band (Illio-Tibial Band - a strong length of connective tissue that stabilies the hip-knee complex). Much of the advise is to foam roll, foam roll and foam roll some more. After all no pain no gain, right?
Wrong! Here is a great factual video to watch explaining the myths of IT Band syndrome.
We treat your TFL (Tensor Fascia Lata) and your glutes to ease such symptoms. We provide you with medical advice and sporting technique specifics and the most effective stretches for the active muscles rather than the immovable IT Band itself.
The knee is opposed to life's twists and turns, as the major weight bearing joint of your body it perfers the straight and narrow.
The knee needs movement to be light and smooth hence the balance of your long powerfull leg muscles are important for long-term health. In recovery you want to work these hug muscle groups but the knee pain holds you back. Our treatments decompress your knee joint, give nutrients to your ligamnets and free your legs of imbalancing muscular knots.
The lower leg works like an upside down pully - the power is driven down the shin and back up the calf.
To be the spring in your step this system needs to be in balance. However sometimes the muscles can become stressed creating shin splints or calf pulls. More often than not its the muscle tightness that leads to the pain.
When in balance this beautifully designed, dexterous joint can take the strain of our weight and perform with skill and grace.
The pressure is on in the center of the ankle, at the Talus, the only bone in the body without a muscular attachment. Only joints and ligaments to correct here.
